Troop Leader Training

Boy leader training is important to the success of a troop. Junior leader training is done at the unit level, the council level, and at the national level. And yes, JLT is now officially TLT. The new syllabus is available in the Scout Shop.

Troop Junior Leader Training. The troop should run a troop junior leader training program at least once a year. Run by the Scoutmaster and the senior patrol leader, this day-long program gives the new leaders of the troop the basic skills they need to do their jobs. For more on troop junior leader training, contact your District training staff.

Orion National Youth Leader Training. Orion is the council's Junior Leader Training Conference. It is a six-day outdoor experience for boy leaders. Applications for this training are available from the Council Service Centers and on the council web site.

National Advanced Youth Leader Experience. NAYLE is held at the Philmont Training Center. For more information on this program, see the Council Service Centers and on the council web site.
